FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What Equipment is Needed?
All players registered into our club are required to wear shin guards. Other than the Clinic and Micro-Clinic divisions, all other Intramural players are required to wear the Smithtown Kicker intramural uniform consisting of one white shirt, one blue shirt, one pair of blue shorts and socks.
NO jewelry permitted while playing.
Pee Wee and Midget Division players need a size 3 soccer ball.
Bantam, Junior, and Major Division players need a size 4 soccer ball.
It is important for each player to have their own ball for all practices as well as on game days. Please do not rely on your coaches to always have an "extra."
Who Will My Coach Be and Can I Request a Specific Coach?
Coaching positions are not filled until registration has been completed. Coaches are chosen on the basis of volunteerism and past club affiliation. Once the coaching staff has been chosen, teams are created. Teams are created by distributing the players based on the number of seasons played. We try to maintain balance throughout the club and therefore do not "stack" or create "neighborhood" teams.
What Division Does My Child Play In?
Divisions are determined strictly by date of birth according to the Long Island Junior Soccer League Regulations. We are unable to move a child from one division to the next regardless of physical size or ability without risking the loss of our sanctioning and insurance by LIJSL, so please do not ask!!
Clinic and Micro Clinic
Clinic and Micro-Clinic are programs designed to teach "first touch" of the soccer ball aimed at teaching the most basic of soccer skills. The programs are geared towards introducing the very young player to small-sided teams and interaction with others. Sessions consist of a one half hour of skill teaching games and a one half hour of small sided games.
